Lake Norman unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Maiden Blue Devils by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
Lake Norman wouldn't go down easily and took Maiden into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 21-25, 17-15.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordin Smith, who had 22 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayna Lefebvre, who had 17 digs and 16 assists.
The victory got Maiden back to even at 1-1.
Lake Norman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against Ardrey Kell on the 14th. As for Maiden, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Bunker Hill on the 14th.
