Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Strathmore's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Strathmore had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Lindsay on Thursday. The Spartans blew past the Cardinals 12-0. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Strathmore got a massive performance out of Avery Behrens, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Behrens a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Mollie Gillis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Strathmore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lindsay only posted a batting average of .133.

Strathmore has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Lindsay, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8-1.

Strathmore has already played their next contest, a 9-2 victory against Wonderful College Prep Academy on the 5th. As for Lindsay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodlake at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 0.5 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
