Baseball Game Preview: Davis Darts vs. Syracuse Titans

For the second straight game, Davis will face off against Syracuse. The Darts will welcome the Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Davis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Davis barely beat Syracuse the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Darts blew past the Titans 17-2 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Darts in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won three in a row.

Wally Grant made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Davis is undefeated when Grant posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Brody Mcguire was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Tyson Baggett, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Davis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Syracuse's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-6. As for Davis, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Syracuse's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Davis has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game.
