Tyler Mascio and Denzel Benton provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Aquinas Institute. The connection was good for 84 yards, the longest such play in Monsignor Martin this season.
St. Mary's moved up to 105 from 161 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lancers climbed the ranks as a result of a 33-7 win over St. Francis.
Canisius's dynamic duo of Mascio and Benton proved tough for the Little Irish to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mascio threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns and Benton had 164 yards receiving. Anthony Kellerman helped Canisius' passing attack out by catching four balls for 61 yards.
Ilo Noble was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 193 yards on 21 carries as St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute beat Aquinas Institute. Teammate Rod Payne added to the ground attack by rushing for 112 yards.
Canisius' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Crusaders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Mascio has thrown for 1135 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Benton has 24 catches for 534 yards. Qadree Ollison leads the league in rushing with 863 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Marauders take on Bishop Timon-St. Jude. As it stands, St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute is in first, while the Tigers are in third.
Dennis Gilbert's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lockport, 30-25. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
