The Denver East Angels will face off against the Poudre Impalas at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Denver East is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Conifer, falling 13-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Angels have suffered since April 8th.

 Henry O'Rear
Henry O'Rear was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Denver East is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-9 otherwise. O'Rear was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jack Lohmeyer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Charlie O'Rear, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Poudre's offense. They lost 17-0 to Fossil Ridge on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Impalas in their meetings with the SaberCats: they've now lost nine in a row.
Poudre's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Denver East, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Denver East has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Poudre struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Denver East came up short against Poudre in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 6-1. Will the Angels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
