Del Mar is 8-2 against Yerba Buena since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Del Mar Dons will head out on the road to square off against the Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors at 7:00 p.m.
Del Mar's game on Wednesday was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 40-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mt. Pleasant. Del Mar has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Yerba Buena ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against James Lick by a score of 69-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Yerba Buena relied on the efforts of Brylin Thomas, who scored 18 points, and Brandon Tran, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Tran, who scored 12 points.
Del Mar has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Yerba Buena, they pushed their record up to 5-18 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Del Mar couldn't quite finish off Yerba Buena in their previous meeting back in January and fell 53-50. Can Del Mar avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
