Allyson Frei has left her mark on New Jersey softball. The recent
High Point (Sussex, N.J.) graduate led her team to a pair of state championships and is the state record holder for strikeouts in a season and a career.
In leading High Point to the 2014 state title, Frei was 29-2 on the season with 471 strikeouts.
Frei, who will play at Boston College, has been named MaxPreps Medium Schools Softball Player of the Year.
Frei's the New Jersey career leader in strikeouts at 1,426. Three times this season she struck out more than 20 in a game, including a perfect game in which she struck out all 21 batters.

In 2014, she walked only 27 batters and allowed just nine earned runs. For her career at High Point, she won 88 games and also led High Point to a state title as a sophomore.
Frei also had a team high 32 RBIs to go with a .374 batting average.

Indian Hills (Oakland, N.J.) to a state-record 34 wins. In 17 years as head coach, his teams are 403-112 and 75-6 the last four seasons. It was Indian Hills' second-straight Group 3 state title and third in four seasons, and it has won 62 of its last 63 games.
Leicht has guided Indian Hills to a .901 winning percentage (146-16) since 2010.

Madison Levine (.414, 21 stolen bases) and pitcher
Devin Durando (32-0, 0.16 ERA and 376 strikeouts in 215 innings).
Team of the YearEastern Tech (Baltimore) finished the season 25-0 and won the state 2A title.
Coached by Jack Meyers, Tech batted .529 as a team and allowed just a dozen runs on the season while scoring 367. Every starter batted higher than .446. Tech's top hitter was junior catcher
Brooke Samios-Uy at .640 with 48 RBIs.
Tech scored in double figures in a game 20 times and recorded 18 shutouts. Its closest game of the season was a 4-3 win over Northern (Owings, Md), the MaxPreps 2013 mythical national champion.
Tech also committed just six errors in 25 games.

Jordan Cargile (25-0, 0.42 ERA, 190 strikeouts and six walks in 117 innings). She also was named the Gatorade Maryland State Softball Player of the Year.

P - Colette Robert, McLoughlin (Milton-Freewater, Ore.), Junior

Robert led Mcloughlin to the Oregon 4A state title and was named the state's Pitcher of the Year. She won 23 of 26 games and walked just nine while striking out 257 in 171 innings. Her ERA was 0.99. Robert, who has committed to New Mexico, also batted over .700 and drove in 50 runs with 25 extra base hits.
P - Jess Cummings, Northern (Owings, Md.), SeniorThe
2014 season wasn't as magical as 2013, when Northern won the MaxPreps
mythical title and Cummings went unbeaten. However, she led Northern to
another state title and won 21 games with a 0.52 ERA. She struck out 260
in 142 innings and lost just twice. Her next stop is Penn State.
P - Rachel Garcia, Highland (Palmdale, Calif.), JuniorGarcia led Highland to the CIF Southern Section Division 3 quarterfinals with a 21-3 pitching record. She also had a 0.36 ERA with 323 strikeouts in 156 innings. At the plate, Garcia batted .492 with nine homers and 36 RBIs. She has committed to UCLA.
P - Missy Zoch, La Grange (Texas), SophomoreThe Texas Sports Writers Association named Zoch its 3A Player of the Year after she concluded the season with a 31-0 record and 1.11 ERA. She had 205 strikeouts in 190 innings. She also batted .371 as the Zeps won the state 3A title.
P - Devin Durando, Indian Hills (Oakland, N.J.), SeniorIn 2014, Durando was 32-0 leading Indian Hills to a state title and unbeaten season (34-0). She fanned 377 batters in 215 innings with an ERA of 0.61. She also batted .436 with 21 doubles and 35 RBIs. Durando was named the Star-Ledger's State Player of the Year.
P - Abby Klopp, Baldwin-Woodville (Baldwin, Wis.), SeniorKlopp, who was 21-2 with an 0.22 ERA and 242 strikeouts in 129 innings, allowed just 46 hits in 2014. Klopp compiled a .530 batting average with 18 extra-base hits, 32 RBIs and 33 runs scored. She pitched 17 shutouts and allowed just four earned runs. She will attend Indiana State.
P - Maddie Damon, Kasson-Mantorville (Kasson, Minn.), JuniorDamon, who was 26-0 as a junior and led Kasson-Montorville to the state 2A title, has more than 1,175 strikeouts in three seasons. She pitched 20 shutouts, six no-hitters, 10 one-hitters and allowed just 36 base hits. Damon batted .377 with 26 RBIs. She has committed to Purdue.
P - Korina Rosario, West Florida (Pensacola, Fla.), SeniorRosario, who will play collegiately at Florida State, recorded 323 strikeouts (183 innings) to go along with a 0.19 ERA and a 28-1 record. She had four no-hitters, 18 shutouts and 25 complete games. She also batted .564, drove in 41 RBIs and scored 37 times. She failed to reach base in only one game.
P - Avery Geehr, Ponte Vedra (Fla.), Senior Geehr led her team to the state finals and a 29-1 record by going 27-1 with 266 strikeouts in 165 innings. She compiled a 0.30 ERA with 15 shutouts. Named the Times-Union Player of the Year, Geehr has signed with Georgetown.
P - Allie Wallsjasper, Sierra (Manteca, Calif.), Senior

No postseason title this year, but Wallsjasper was 18-2 and fanned 227 batters in 120 innings while holding opposing hitters to an average of .088. At the dish, she batted .482 with an .815 slugging percentage. Headed for LSU, she was the Modesto Bee's Player of the Year.
P - Jordan Cargile, Eastern Tech (Baltimore), SeniorCargile
posted a 25-0 record in the circle along with a 0.42 ERA this past
season, leading the Mavericks (25-0) to the Class 2A state title. She
struck out 190 batters and walked just six in 117 innings pitched,
firing 18 shutouts, including three perfect games. The 2013 Baltimore
Sun Player of the Year batted .540 with seven doubles, five triples and
40 RBIs. She finished the season with a .592 on-base percentage and a
.770 slugging percentage.
C - Jenavee Peres, Garden Grove (Calif.), SeniorPeres batted .662, drove in 49 runs and belted 14 home runs to earn second team All-American honors. She was the top player in the Garden Grove League and named to the Orange County Register's All-Area team. She will attend San Diego State.
C - Kristin Hoover, Berkeley Prep (Tampa, Fla.), SeniorHoover had big numbers – .612 average, 43 runs, 30 RBIs, 16 homers, 1.597 slugging percentage, 2.276 OPS – to lead Prep. Her career totals include a .570 batting average. She has signed with California.
C - Bailey Hemphill, St. Thomas More (Lafayette, La.), SophomoreHemphill led St. Thomas More to the 4A state title and was named 4A Player MVP after hitting 17 home runs, 14 doubles and driving in 56 RBIs. She batted .630 and has committed to Alabama.
IF - Aidan Falk, Our Lady of Mercy (Rochester, N.Y.), SeniorFalk set a state record with 19 home runs this season and holds the state career mark with 45. She batted .646 with an on-base percentage of .750, knocked in 52 RBIs and scored 41 runs in only 21 games. Falk's OPS was 2.427. She has signed with Michigan.
IF - Alyssa Angel, La Grange (Texas), Senior

A shortstop, Angel was named the Texas Small School Softball Player of the Year after leading La Grange to a 40-2 record and Texas Class 3A state championship. She batted .578 with 13 home runs, 71 RBIs, a .636 on-base percentage and a 1.164 slugging percentage. She also was perfect in 39 steal attempts and scored 71 runs and is headed to Texas.
IF - Taylor Vanzee, Hemet (Calif.), Senior Vanzee batted .624 with 53 hits, seven home runs, six triples, 17 doubles, 39 RBIs and 49 runs scored. Amazingly, she did not strike out in 29 games played. She has signed with Washington.
IF - Aria Pogni, Tamalpais (Mill Valley, Calif.), SeniorNamed the Marin Independent POY, Pogni captured her second MCAL triple crown in three seasons (16 HRs, 39 RBIs, .684 batting average). She also scored 57 runs with an OPS of 2.265 and a slugging percentage of 1.481. She has signed with Loyola Marymount.
IF - Ashley Belans, American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.), SeniorBelans batted .527 with 21 extra-base hits and drove in 37 as American Heritage won the state 5A title. She also scored 34 times and committed just two errors. She will attend Florida International University.
IF - Kenzi Maguire, River Ridge (New Port Richey, Fla.), JuniorMaguire put up good numbers as River Ridge won 26 of 30 games. She batted .598 with 34 of her 58 hits going for extra bases. She scored 52 runs and drove in 45.
IF - Ashleigh Hughes, Antelope (Calif.), SeniorHughes wrapped up her sterling prep career by hitting .532 with 50 hits, 40 runs and 24 RBIs. She has signed with Arizona.
IF - Becky Gruber, Elmwood Park (Ill.), SeniorNamed the Pioneer Press POY, Gruber had monster numbers: 17 homers, 57 RBIs, .696 average and a .728 on-base percentage.
IF - Sierra Mutschler, Wayland (Mich.), SeniorMutschler led Wayland to a 42-2 record with 86 RBIs (fourth-best in state history). Mutschler batted .513, had a .963 slugging percentage and 12 homers and 16 doubles.
IF - Ashton Lampton, Newton County (Decatur, Miss.), JuniorLampton led Newton County to a 34-4 record and the 4A state title when she scored 65 runs, collected 72 hits and drove in 64. She had 41 extra-base hits (22 doubles, seven homers and 12 triples). She also stole 23 bases.
IF - Rebekah Cervantes, Redwood (Visalia, Calif.), JuniorCervantes had impressive numbers (1.300 slugging percentage, 69 RBIs, .614 batting average and 11 home runs).
IF - Kaleigh Todd, McAdory (McCalla, Ala.), SeniorNamed the Birmingham News POY, Todd stole 71 bases and recorded an on-base percentage of .648 to go along with a .620 batting average that included 80 hits this season. She has signed with South Alabama.
OF - Lovie Lopez, St. Paul (Santa Fe Springs, Calif.), Senior Lopez led her team to a 28-4 record, hitting .441, scoring 36 runs, driving in 29 and stealing 32 bases. She has signed with Oregon State.

Watson was named North Carolina's 3A West Player of the Year after batting .693., ripping 20 doubles and driving in 61 runs.
OF - Elise McCarthy, Monrovia (Calif.), SeniorMcCarthy was named the Star-News Player of the Year after batting .667, stealing 18 bases and scoring 32 runs. She will play at Cal State Northridge.
UT - Taylor Baca, Winslow (Ariz.), SeniorBaca batted .505 and drove in 44 runs, plus compiled an 18-1 record (1.54 ERA) for the state 3A champions.
UT - Holly Ward, Haleyville (Ala.), SeniorThe Mississippi State signee was named Alabama's 4A Player of the Year as well as the Gatorade POY recipient. Ward led the Class 4A two-time defending state champion Lions (34-17) to a third-place finish this season when she compiled a 25-9 record with an 0.80 ERA, striking out 335 batters in 219 innings. She batted .432 with eight home runs and 64 RBIs.
