Volleyball Recap: Norton Gets the Win

Oakley typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Norton proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Plainsmen 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Bluejays: when they faced off against the Plainsmen two weeks ago, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

Norton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 26-24, 25-12.

Alexis David paced Norton's offense, picking up 15 kills. David got some help from Leah Clark and her 38 assists. Finally, David was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Despite the loss, Oakley still got an impressive performance from Mary Carman, who had 25 digs and one assist.

Norton is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-12 record this season. Having lost for the first time this season, Oakley fell to 31-1.

Looking ahead, Norton will square off against Arapahoe at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakley, they have already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Thomas More Prep-Marian on the 11th.
