Utica is 0-3 against Utica Eisenhower since October of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Utica Chieftains will head out on the road to face off against the Utica Eisenhower Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Utica didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Farmington, but they still walked away with a 34-30 win. The win was just what Utica needed coming off of a 34-7 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Utica Eisenhower had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They strolled past Clarkston with points to spare, taking the game 36-19. Utica Eisenhower pushed the score to 36-13 by the end of the third, a deficit Clarkston cut but never quite recovered from.
Utica Eisenhower's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Conner Temple, who picked up 143 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Preston Crum, who threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns. Utica Eisenhower also got a significant boost from Kamari Charles, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 102 yards.
Their wins bumped Utica to 4-5 and Utica Eisenhower to 8-1.
Utica was taken down by Utica Eisenhower 34-7 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Utica avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
