The Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs will take on the Franklin Academy Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Franklin Academy will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Wake Christian Academy extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Harrells Christian Academy. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Brody Morris made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Grayson Durrant was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Carter Collins was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
Wake Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harrells Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .190.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin Academy). They put the hurt on Wake Prep Academy with a sharp 12-6 win on Thursday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Guardians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Caleb Lantz, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Denton, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Wake Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Franklin Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wake Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Franklin Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wake Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Franklin Academy in their previous meeting back in February, winning 4-1. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
