GREENSBORO, N.C. - A 22-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter didn't slow down
Northern Guilford (Greensboro, N.C.) as it put 14 more points on the scoreboard to secure its victory over Morehead (Eden, N.C.) 44-8.
After taking the lead on a
T.J. Logan touchdown run in the first quarter, the Nighthawks led 16-0 at the half.
Northern Guilford expanded its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. NG scored two times in the third, including once on a Logan touchdown run.
Logan played well for the Greensboro school in the victory. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 26 touchdowns on the season.
The Panthers' lone touchdown came on a defensive touchdown in the third quarter.
The Nighthawks came into the game allowing 5.3 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 49-8 win for Northern Guilford.
Northern Guilford (9-0) goes up against Western Alamance in a 3A Mid-State game matchup next week, while Morehead (1-9) locks horns with Rockingham County also in a 3A Mid-State game.
