Lake Gibson (Lakeland, Fla.) captured the lead on a touchdown run by
Tyler Brown with 1:00 left in the fourth quarter to beat
Winter Haven (Fla.) 28-24 on Saturday.
The Braves led 13-7 at halftime, but the Blue Devils recaptured the lead on a touchdown with 7:00 remaining in the third.
By the end of the third, Lake Gibson found itself trailing by 1 point as Winter Haven captured the lead thanks to one score in the quarter. WH scored on a passing touchdown in the quarter.
Brown played well for LG in the victory. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
The Lakeland school got revenge for last year's 25-10 loss to the Blue Devils with the victory.
The loss comes after Winter Haven defeated Kathleen 27-21 last week.
Lake Gibson (6-0) goes up against Ridge in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Winter Haven (4-1) locks horns with Mulberry also in a non-conference game.
