It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Collinsville Cardinals can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Carl Albert on Friday, falling 52-14. While losing is never fun, Collinsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Carl Albert is ranked fifth).
When it comes to explaining why Collinsville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Scott Rigby. Despite the final result, he rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns.
Kevin Sperry was his usual excellent self, rushing for 60 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 182 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. Bradyn Webb made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Collinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Carl Albert, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Collinsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Carl Albert will square off against Bishop McGuinness at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop McGuinness is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
