Lanesville hasn't had much luck against Floyd Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Highlanders at 5:30 p.m. Lanesville has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lanesville managed to slip by Henryville the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles lost 11-5 to the Hornets on Wednesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lanesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Mills, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Mills is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Raelynn Lindsey was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Floyd Central came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Stars with a sharp 12-1 victory. The Highlanders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
Emmy Miller spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Breleigh Lockhart, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kiersten Fiedler, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Floyd Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in four consecutive games.
Floyd Central pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lanesville, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-11.
Lanesville might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Floyd Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
