NC GBB Academy picked up another tournament win on Monday. They put the hurt on the St. Mary's Saints with a sharp 59-35 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 24 points or more this season.

When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's lost, don't look at Mary Marshall Rankin. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 6 on her way to 13 points. That's the most points Rankin has posted since back in December of 2023. Janelle Gyampo was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for NC GBB Academy and bumps their season record up to 10-5. As for St. Mary's, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.

NC GBB Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wayne Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st. As for St. Mary's, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-39 loss against Cary Academy on the 21st.
