Make it nine blowout wins for the Unity Christian Lions this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Excel Christian Academy 59-21 at home. The victory was just what Unity Christian needed coming off of a 64-28 defeat in their prior match.
Unity Christian was led to victory by Anna Grace Wells and Camryn King. Wells scored eight points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while King scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals. Wells hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brinzlee Painter, who scored nine points.
Despite the defeat, Excel Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Chae Vieira scored 15 points. That was a full 71.4% of Excel Christian Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Amanda Davison was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Unity Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Excel Christian Academy, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10.
Unity Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. North Georgia Christian Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games. As for Excel Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
