Even though the Charlotte Elite Academy Soldiers scored an imposing 79 points on Wednesday, the Lab University Prep Lab Rats still came out on top. Lab University Prep took their game against Charlotte Elite Academy 88-79. Given Lab University Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Charlotte Elite Academy is ranked 179th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Demarco Reynolds was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points. The match was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juwann Argant, who scored 17 points.
Despite the loss, Charlotte Elite Academy still got an impressive performance from Jared Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 20 rebounds. Taylor scored a full 25.3% of Charlotte Elite Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Keith Sutton, who scored 9 points along with 4 steals.
Lab University Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Charlotte Elite Academy, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Lab University Prep will head out on the road to face off against HA Prep Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. HA Prep Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Charlotte Elite Academy, they will be playing at home against Greater Cabarrus S at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Greater Cabarrus S has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 371 points over their last five games.
