After flying high against the Lansdowne Vikings two weeks ago, the Owings Mills Golden Eagles came back down to earth. Owings Mills took a serious blow against Parkville on Wednesday, falling 59-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Owings Mills has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Owings Mills still got an impressive performance from Marcus Nelson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Nelson scored a full 55.2% of Owings Mills' points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Parkville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chima Egeonu, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. Egeonu is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Council, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Owings Mills' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Parkville, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Owings Mills will take on Kenwood at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Kenwood is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Parkville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lansdowne at 5:30 p.m. Lansdowne will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Parkville is ranked 85th).
