Allison Baston spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Tenley Newman was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seven Rivers Christian). They blew past Hernando Christian Academy 22-6 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Natalee Tidwell was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Tidwell was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madalyn Luider, who fired off two home runs, three stolen bases, and eight RBI while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Ryanna Ramsay was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Seven Rivers Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hernando Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .267.
Seven Rivers Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-16 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Seffner Christian, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Seffner Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Seven Rivers Christian when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
