Glenn and Bremen are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Glenn Falcons will take on the Bremen Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Glenn turned things around against Argos on Wednesday. They strolled past the Dragons with points to spare, taking the game 42-24. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Dragons are ranked 317th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
01/22/25 @ Argos | 9 |
12/13/24 vs LaVille | 8 |
12/05/24 @ Trinity Greenlawn | 7 |
12/17/24 vs Plymouth | 7 |
12/28/24 vs Fort Wayne Bishop Luers | 7 |
Glenn's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Hurford, who posted five points in addition to nine rebounds and four steals. Those nine boards gave Hurford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Reese, who earned 12 points and three steals.
Glenn smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Argos only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bremen waltzed into their match on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They secured a 41-36 W over the Lancers.
Bremen's win came from a few key players Glenn will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Eliana Grubbs, who had 11 points and seven rebounds. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Kila Foster was another key player, putting up 14 points.
Glenn's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Bremen, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Glenn has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bremen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Glenn might still be hurting after the 57-34 defeat they got from Bremen in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Glenn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
