While losing is never fun, Clinton Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Hazlehurst is ranked 152nd).
Clinton Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaelyn Gholar, who scored 12 points. Gholar scored a full 46.2% of Clinton Christian Academy's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Addison Crowder was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Alyssa Tanner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hazlehurst, scoring 12 points. The game was Tanner's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sasha Jordan, who scored 7 points.
Clinton Christian Academy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Hazlehurst, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Clinton Christian Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Parklane Academy at 6:00 p.m. As for Hazlehurst, they will head out on the road to face off against Florence at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Florence is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
