The Arcadia Firebirds will head out on the road to take on the Nandua Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
After a string of three wins, Arcadia's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 60-50 to Northampton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Arcadia has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Arcadia had strong showings from Jordan Cropper, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds, and RonRico Bugg, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Bugg is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Carson Lucy was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, even though Chincoteague scored an imposing 65 points on Tuesday, Nandua still came out on top. Nandua walked away with a 76-65 win over Chincoteague. The win made it back-to-back wins for Nandua.
It was another big night for Ny'Zir Dix, who scored 22 points.
Arcadia's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Nandua, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Arcadia have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 49.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Nandua struggles in that department as they've made 42.7% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Arcadia was able to grind out a solid victory over Nandua when the teams last played last Tuesday, winning 62-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arcadia since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
