In what's become a running theme this season, the Progreso Red Ants gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Monte Alto 55-24 at home. Winning may never get old, but Progreso sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Progreso to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Pecina, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists. Pecina is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorena Cerda, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds.
Progreso has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. As for Monte Alto, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Progreso will head out on the road to take on Santa Rosa at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Monte Alto, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against IDEA Weslaco Pike at 7:00 p.m.
