Given Douglas County West's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Conestoga is ranked 259th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Douglas County West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Grace Holm, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 3 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Grimm, who scored 16 points.
Conestoga's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ayla Garrett, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, and Alyssa Batt who scored eight points along with two blocks.
The win made it two in a row for Douglas County West and bumps their season record up to 12-8. As for Conestoga, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.
Douglas County West will be playing at home against Platteview at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Platteview is coming into the contest with five straight defeats on the road, meaning Douglas County West will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Conestoga, they will square off against Syracuse at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Conestoga is coming into the contest with six straight losses on the road, meaning Syracuse will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
