Despite the loss, Orlando Science saw an underclassman step up: Myles Gipson scored 14 points. Gipson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Kenneth Reyes was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 17 rebounds and two steals.
Orlando Science struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Crooms Academy racked up 14 assists.
Crooms Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was D'Elio Cestero out in front who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Tyrell Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Orlando Science's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-9. As for Crooms Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Orlando Science will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Ridgeview Global Studies Academy at 8:30 p.m. on January 19th. Ridgeview Global Studies Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Crooms Academy, they will be playing at home against First Baptist Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (First Baptist Christian Academy is ranked 673rd, while Crooms Academy is ranked 662nd).
