MOORESVILLE, N.C. -
Mooresville (N.C.) had a comfortable lead entering the fourth quarter, but used nine fourth quarter points to seal the 33-6 victory over
Alexander Central (Taylorsville, N.C.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Akease Rankin in the first quarter, the Blue Devils were up 24-6 at the half.
Mooresville put up 17 points in the second quarter en route to the win. MHS scored on a touchdown pass by
Thomas Bullock to
Raphael Montgomery and a
Justin Jones touchdown run in the quarter.
Alexander Central's lone touchdown came on a run in the first quarter.
The Blue Devils came in allowing an average of 20.8 points per game this season. The defense really stepped up, holding the Cougars well below their season average of 24.8 points scored per game.
The loss comes after Alexander Central defeated North Iredell 27-20 last week. The loss broke Alexander Central's two-game winning streak.
