Zane Trace had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Huntington Huntsmen. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered an 8-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Brynn Wipert made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aubree Thomas was a standout: she scored two runs and stole six bases while going 2-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Haylynn Boggess-Pierce was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.
The victory got Zane Trace back to even at 4-4. As for Huntington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
