The Carlisle Thundering Herd entered their tilt with the State College Little Lions with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Carlisle enjoyed a cozy 63-46 victory over State College on Friday. Given Carlisle's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while State College is ranked 178th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why State College lost, one person who can't be blamed is Charlie Yartz. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Angus, who scored nine points.
Carlisle pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for State College, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlisle will face off against Altoona at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for State College, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Williamsport at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Williamsport is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
