Wayne Trace fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Fairview on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Apaches 54-50. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wayne Trace in their matchups with Fairview: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Crestview came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 49-39 win over Liberty-Benton.
Crestview's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cali Gregory, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Gregory has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie Kline, who scored 14 points along with five assists and four steals.
Wayne Trace's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Crestview, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.
