Gordo got a big performance out of Isabella Billings, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Billings is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Billings, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Berry sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over Pickens Academy on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Gordo now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Berry, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Gordo took their victory against Berry when the teams last played back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 11-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gordo since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
