Baseball Recap: Pueblo County Starts Season with Victory at Home

Pueblo County took care of business in their home opener on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Severance Silver Knights. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered a 5-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cohen Glenn and Cole Barger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Glenn tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Barger tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, Glenn gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Glenn scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Barger got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Barger has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blake Swift, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Julian Reyes was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Severance's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Pueblo County will face off against Skyline at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Severance, they will square off against Windsor at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
