The Highland Rams entered their tilt with the Fremont Silverwolves with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Highland walked away with a 58-49 victory over Fremont on Wednesday. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, as Highland did.
Highland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was George Mcconkie, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Drisdom, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Fremont lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hunter Hansen. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The match was Hansen's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Easton Duft was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three blocks.
Highland's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Fremont, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highland will take on Lehi at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lehi knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Highland likes a good challenge. Fremont will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Olympus at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Olympus is ranked 14th, while Fremont is ranked 32nd).
