The Seminole Ridge Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Seminole Ridge took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Westminster Academy a 3-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Cailee Sessions's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Haven Berryhill and Hailey Goode did most of the damage at the plate: Berryhill scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Goode scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Berryhill has posted since back in April of 2024.
Dr. Joaquin Garcia never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Lake Worth last Wednesday. They blew past the Trojans 18-0. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by 11 runs or more this season.
Annabelle Brisco was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Brisco was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Lily Burge looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Ava Johnston was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Ella Mae Lipp, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Dr. Joaquin Garcia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .619. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Seminole Ridge's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, their record now sits at 9-7.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Seminole Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Dr. Joaquin Garcia struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
