The Somerset Bulldogs were the 59-36 winner over the Floresville Tigers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Somerset had to suffer through a rough 57-23 loss at the hands of Floresville. While losing is never fun, Somerset can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1149th, while Floresville is ranked 438th).
Floresville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenzie Huron out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordin Johns, who scored 12 points along with seven steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Somerset and nudges their season record down to 6-16. As for Floresville, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Somerset will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Carrizo Springs at 6:15 p.m. on December 29th. Floresville will be home for the holidays to greet Pearsall at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
