After flying high against the Leonard Lancers last Monday, the Jupiter Christian Eagles came back down to earth. Jupiter Christian took a 35-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Morningside Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Jupiter Christian of the 58-39 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Jupiter Christian saw an underclassman step up: Addison Simmons dropped a double-double on 12 points and 21 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Simmons has scored all season.
Emmilina Miller was her usual excellent self, scoring eight points along with six steals for Morningside Academy. Giuliana Bonasera was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Jupiter Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Morningside Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Jupiter Christian will head out on the road to face off against Pine at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Pine will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Jupiter Christian surely won't give up without a fight. Morningside Academy is on the road again on Wednesday and plays St. Edward's at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. Morningside Academy's defense has only allowed 28.2 points per game this season, so St. Edward's offense will have their work cut out for them.
