Williamsville East's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on December 5th after their third straight loss dating back to last season. They took a serious blow against Lancaster, falling 63-24. Williamsville East was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-12.
Despite the defeat, Williamsville East had strong showings from Emily Wendt, who scored nine points, and Alex Kappel, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 31-31 at halftime, West Seneca West was not quite Iroquois' equal in the second half on Thursday. West Seneca West fell to Iroquois 74-68. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Seneca West in their matchups with Iroquois: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their defeat, West Seneca West saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Payton Keane, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Keane scored 15 or more points. Ava Gunnells was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Williamsville East bumped their record down to 0-1 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for West Seneca West, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
