Archbishop Spalding took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Arundel Wildcats 5-4. For the Cavaliers, this counts as revenge for the 12-8 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2022.
Cessi Prince was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Prince was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Rowley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Tori Codi was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.
