Softball Recap: Strathmore Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Strathmore had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Wonderful College Prep Academy Lions as they made off with a 9-2 victory. Considering the Spartans have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Avery Behrens and Anabelle Benavides did most of the damage at the plate: Behrens scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Benavides scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Behrens continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Elisabeth Ceballos also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Strathmore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Strathmore pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Strathmore will square off against Woodlake at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, they will take on Alpaugh at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Buffalos have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
