Genesee's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Flint Southwestern Academy with a sharp 19-0 victory. With that win, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 9.2 runs per game.
Logan Ball made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Joey Abbe was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Ty Dewrock was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.
Genesee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bentley lost 22-15 to Morrice on Thursday. Even if the Bulldogs couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
William 'Will' Newton and Garrett Leonard did some serious damage despite the final result: Newton got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Leonard went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Newton is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Gavin Brewer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
The win got Genesee back to even at 2-2. As for Bentley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Bentley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Genesee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. It's a different story for Bentley, though, as they've only averaged .224. Will they be able to contain Genesee's hitters?
