3A District 11 recap October 8, 2013
St. Charles Catholic scaled the state rankings by moving to 64 from 94 this week, the biggest jump in 3A District 11. The Comets were able to move up by defeating Ville Platte 49-0.
McMain was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league. Earlier in the week, the Mustangs defeated Clark 46-0.
Curtis's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Myles Washington threw for 51 and 1 touchdown and Malachi Dupre had 27 yards receiving. On the ground George Moreira chipped in 127 yards. Moreira helped Curtis' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 12 yards.
Moreira provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Patriots fell to St. Augustine. Moreira's key target this week was Dupre, who caught 3 passes for 27 yards.
Washington put up the best numbers in passing as Curtis lost to the Purple Knights.
Curtis' offense cannot be tamed this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Abby Touzet has thrown for 294 yards this season, while Dupre has 15 catches for 165 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when De La Salle takes on McMain. The Cavaliers are in fourth place, while Kevin Roussell's team is in first place.
The Mustangs added to the longest winning streak in 3A District 11 this week by beating the Bulldogs, 46-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
