The Newark Collegiate Academy Panthers's game on Sunday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 63-53 to Linden.
Leading Linden to victory were Elijah Butler and Nas Robinson. Butler dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Robinson scored 26 points along with two steals. Butler is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jekhi Burnam, who scored five points along with three blocks.
Newark Collegiate Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Linden, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newark Collegiate Academy will take on Orange at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orange will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Newark Collegiate Academy is ranked 29th). As for Linden, they will be playing at home against Franklin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
