Even though the Calvert Hall Cardinals scored an imposing 56 points on Monday, the Boys Latin Lakers still came out on top. Boys Latin managed a 61-56 victory over Calvert Hall. This was payback for Boys Latin, who suffered a 69-64 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Calvert Hall's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Tyrin Bizzelle, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds, and Brendan Johnson who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bizzelle pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of JT Taggart, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Boys Latin's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Calvert Hall, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boys Latin will challenge St. Frances Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in St. Frances Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 matchups. As for Calvert Hall, they will head out on the road to square off against Glenelg Country at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Glenelg Country and Calvert Hall are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
