Basketball Recap: Dunwoody Falls Despite Big Games from Matt Corgile and Emerson Mitchell

Dunwoody's game on Tuesday was all tied up 32-32 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of the Decatur Bulldogs by a score of 57-55. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 23-15 in the first quarter.

Dunwoody's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emerson Mitchell, who posted 14 points along with seven assists and three steals, and Matt Corgile, who put up nine points. Mitchell has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Verlander, who had nine points.

Jason Welborn was his usual excellent self, going 5 of 8 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds for Decatur. Hayden Mikes was another key player, putting up 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Dunwoody and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for Decatur, they moved to 3-5 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Dunwoody didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-46 defeat against Westminster on the 5th. As for Decatur, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-52 victory against Cambridge on the 7th.
