Baseball Recap: Northwestern Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Northwestern had won five straight at home, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 10-7 to make it six. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Cameron Comets. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

As for Cameron, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13. They have struggled against Northwestern recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

For Cameron's part, Jayton Silvernail was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. The dominant performance also gave Silvernail a new career-low in walks (one). He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Andrew Larson was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Coming up, Northwestern will challenge Ashland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cameron, they will face off against Unity at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
