On Friday, the Westlake Thunder faced the Skyridge Falcons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Westlake strolled past Skyridge with points to spare, taking the game 50-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Westlake.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westlake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chloe Jensen, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Jensen has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Austyn Feller was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Skyridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shae Toole, who scored six points along with seven steals. Toole is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Sika, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Westlake's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Skyridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-4.
Westlake will stay at home for another game and welcome Lehi at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Lehi has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests. As for Skyridge, they will head out on the road to square off against Lone Peak at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
