Wes-Del and Daleville are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Warriors will be taking part in a tournament against the Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wes-Del has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wes-Del's last matchup with Alexandria-Monroe could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Warriors lost 13-2 to the Tigers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 10, 2021, but that streak is no more.
Wes-Del saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Flynn, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Daleville had just enough and edged out Southern Wells 11-10 on Monday.
Noah Colvin and Ayden Ramirez were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Colvin pitched three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Meanwhile, Ramirez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Daleville is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-6 otherwise. At the plate, Colvin went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Ramirez went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Colvin a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Tripp Pitts looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Daleville's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't).
Back at the plate, Brayden Sigler was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Bryson Sigler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Daleville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Wes-Del's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Daleville, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Wes-Del skirted past Daleville 8-7 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
