Clay has gone 8-1-1 against Bowling Green recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. Clay will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Friday, Clay needed a bit of extra time to put away Northview. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Wildcats.
Bryce Besgrove and Landon Echelberry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Besgrove struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Echelberry struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Besgrove got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Echelberry went 1-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. What's more, Besgrove posted three hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Goetz, who went 3-for-6 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.
Clay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.8.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Bowling Green's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Perrysburg on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost five in a row.
Clay's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Bowling Green, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Clay beat Bowling Green 4-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
