Huron has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Port Clinton Redskins at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Huron will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 586th, while Port Clinton is ranked 167th).
Huron fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Clyde on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fliers.
In what's become a running theme this season, Port Clinton gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 55-23 victory over Rossford at home. With Port Clinton ahead 39-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Huron's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-9. As for Port Clinton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Huron beat Port Clinton 52-39 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Huron since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
