On Friday, Avon Grove earned a 62-51 victory over Linville Hill. The victory was all the more spectacular given Avon Grove's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while Linville Hill is ranked 117th).
Linville Hill's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Giovanni Sejuste, who scored 17 points. The game was Sejuste's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Braden Smoker, who scored 12 points.
Avon Grove now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Linville Hill, their loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon Grove has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Varsity Opponent on December 29, 2023. Varsity Opponent is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Linville Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dayspring Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dayspring Christian Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56 points per game.
