Even though the Brookhaven Panthers scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, the Provine Rams still came out on top. Provine took their game against Brookhaven 67-59. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Provine also won the last time the pair played on January 5th.
Brookhaven lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaylen Haliburton, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Haliburton hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarius Malone, who scored 13 points.
Brookhaven struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Provine has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Brookhaven, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Provine will face off against Natchez at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Natchez will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Provine is ranked 23rd). As for Brookhaven, they will head out on the road to take on North Pike at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Pike is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
